This aspect mainly focuses on the presumptive and initial health and medical analysis conducted by the nursing class of healthcare serving as an overview basis and diagnosis for the following treatment and medical application. Aiding as a primary health analysis, nursing diagnosis actually becomes the springboard for further treatment and observation by giving the healthcare nursing a professional idea about the condition and the needed healthcare service of the patient. We will write a custom essay sample on Nursing Diagnosis or any similar topic only for you Order Now Thus, this healthcare concept can be considered as a synonymous to the concept of applying first aid only on a broader and more concise aspect. (Carpenito-Moyet 2007) The concept of nursing diagnosis mainly originates from the principle of maximizing the efficiency of healthcare service especially on institutions providing one. In this aspect, the service of medical personnel mainly the physicians and the doctors can actually be efficiently maximizing by distributing tasks that are dispensable on their level by utilizing other healthcare personnel for diagnosis and initial treatment aspects. On this account, other professional healthcare service has been seek primarily the nursing department wherein they have been titled for the duty of initial diagnosis and treatment thus giving the medical practitioners an overview of the healthcare conditions of the patients. In turn, medical diagnosis has been effectively focused on conditions specifically in need of their specialty. Thus, the establishment of nursing diagnosis has significantly maximized the healthcare capacity of the general area of service by effectively dividing and efficiently classifying the healthcare conditions of sum of their patients. Carpenito-Moyet 2007) The structure of nursing diagnosis is mainly classified in five general aspect mainly based on the nature and the intensity of the healthcare condition. This structural classification is set based upon the guidelines determined by the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association-International (NANDA-International) which are namely actual diagnosis, risk d iagnosis, possible diagnosis, syndrome diagnosis, and wellness diagnosis. Each classification has their own focused aspect thus, nursing diagnosis collective encompassed all of the aspects and possibilities of a healthcare situation. (Carpenito-Moyet 2007) Nursing diagnoses also varies according to the health pattern and the determined general nature of the scenario. Nursing diagnoses can vary from relating to health perception and management, metabolic nutrition, conditional elimination, management of physical activities and rest, and other humanistic aspect relating to health condition and human physiology. Commonly, nursing diagnosis takes its main significance in its application concerning the nursing healthcare plan wherein the standardized statement derived from the initial observation and analysis will actually and dominant affect the healthcare plan to be applied for the patientââ¬â¢s condition. (Carpenito-Moyet 2007) Generally, nursing diagnosis is a standardized healthcare statement regarding the patientââ¬â¢s condition thus, determining the appropriate nursing care and medical approach to be applied in the aspect of healthcare service. This statement stands out as the product of initial observation and analysis of the patient specifying the most needed healthcare treatment and the potentials of his or her condition. Thus, nursing diagnosis becomes a significant element in the healthcare practice and application because it efficiently develops the aspect of healthcare service and it generally answers the required specific aspect of the treatment and attention needed. The Meth Epidemic free essay sample
The origin of methamphetamine in the U. S. started on the west coast in the state of Oregon. This is a man-made drug that is easily ââ¬Å"cookedâ⬠in kitchens across the U. S. Pseudoephedrine is the main chemical ingredient in the drug and also the key component of cold remedies such as Sudafed. The Pseudoephedrine is combined with other chemicals readily available in gas, rubbing alcohol, or drain cleaners. The effects of the drug are of a distinct deteriorating effect. Some people have nicknamed it ââ¬Å"meth mouthâ⬠where the userââ¬â¢s teeth have blackened and stubbed due to lack of oral hygiene. It causes the elasticity in the skin to go away so the skin sags causing the user to look decades older than they really are. Sores develop on the body, because meth users sometimes see hallucinations of bugs crawling under their skin, and so they try to scratch something that isnââ¬â¢t there. We will write a custom essay sample on The Meth Epidemic or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Their immune system isnââ¬â¢t what it used to be since they are poisoning the body, therefore it seems that the common meth user always has a visible sore or two on the body. Since the drug actually makes the blood vessels shrink, it causes a boost of energy, making the user feel very productive or over confident, I should say. It is said that meth is such an ultra-stimulant, that users often stay high all day off one hit. In 2005, it was reported that over half of Portland, Oregon were meth users. It caused homes to be split apart and thus, half of the foster care provided by the state was children whose parents were involved with meth using or meth making. Also, 85% of property crimes were committed in relation to meth. Many homes were like this on the west coast, however the east coast had yet to see this. The independent investigative journalist that focused national attention to meth addiction in the U. S. was Steve Suo, from the Oregonian. He was very concerned with the statistics of meth. He did a study and transformed data into maps. In 1992, there was only Oregon shaded for meth. By 1997, the number increased to shade through the Midwest. By 2003, meth was reaching the east coast. Someone had to do something about this epidemic. He found huge spikes and fall offs over a period of years. He wondered why they were so consistant. Suo spoke on PBS in an interview about interviewing a 9 year old girl who had seen horrible things for her age. She described the way she would feel sick when smelling the cooking going on in the house. She had to perform sex acts with the father and other adults when they were high on meth. These stories are not easy to hear for Suo, he is a dad as well. The proliferation of meth manufacture and distribution in the U. S. began in the early 1990ââ¬â¢s when the Amezcua brothers (Colima Cartel) smuggled 170 tons of pseudoephedrine into the U. S. , making about 2 billion hits of meth. Krebs Biochemical factory in India manufactured ephedrine and pseudoephedrine and that is who the cartel was getting it from. Having no clue as to what was happening in the U. S. , the Indian company stayed in business with them until March of 1994, when a cardboard company had 3. 4 tons of ephedrine on cargo. Now the Indian connection is gone, so what now? The purity of meth plunged in statistics and lives. In early 1996, meth purity was lowest it had been in years, then it rose again in 1996. Suo, the journalist, noticed these patterns and took great interest to solve the mystery of the rise and fall of the meth epidemic. In 1986, Gene Haislip was the number three man with the DEA. He had an idea to go after the chemical components that go into meth. The quay lewd has gone away because they discovered Columbians couldnââ¬â¢t get their drug powder and it eliminated the problem. So, the idea that they could do the same for meth was out there. Bob Dole introduced bills in 1986 to I. D. everyone who desired to purchase pseudoephedrine. It was a bill that would negatively impact the industry, so it was shot down. An appeal was made to a higher authority, the lobbyist for the drug industry and the evidence and presentation was there, but they wanted to exempt cold medicine from the law, as the chemical when it was sold in form of a pharmaceutical. An agreement was made with the loop-hole. In 1986, 4 out of 5 hits consumed by meth users were in superlabs in the central valley. The police hit labs that were huge and some were small. The ideal location for a lab would be in vacant areas and they could cook and be gone in 48 hours. The police had a counter strategy and planted cameras in the 1990ââ¬â¢s. Companies licensed by the government were used to supply the superlabs, but it was too late. Haislipââ¬â¢s Act was eliminated by an act of congress and that gave everyone a year to adjust and the traffickerââ¬â¢s a year to adjust to become smarter criminals. Robert Pennal spoke in this film about all the bottles they were finding with French writing with no markings. Only 60 mg, white bottles with 1000 count. It took two years to realize they were being smuggled from Quebec, Canada. The ââ¬Å"smurfingâ⬠effect began as meth manufacturers were gathering at pharmacies and buying the maximum amount allowed and then doing it all over again. When they got the desired amount, they would cook it up. In 2003, another proposal was made and cold medicines were put back behind counters. Seventy-five percent was being diverted to meth. On 2004, Oklahoma was the first state to pass the law and Oregon followed suit. Then the national chains began to voluntarily put the produce behind the shelf, but the Mexican cartel found a better source. The Mexicans pharmaceutical companies legally imported 224 tons of pseudoephedrine which was twice as much than needed to make cold medicine. So, in Mexico, you could only buy three boxes at a time, although it was stated that they didnââ¬â¢t really care how many you wanted to buy. They would cook extra into meth and smuggle it to the U. S. In 2006 Combat Meth Act was Nationwide and buyers would have to registers first. In addition, U. S. government convinced Mexican imports to just amount needed to make cold medicine, which was so little, they banned it altogether. Then the old ââ¬Å"bikerâ⬠method of meth making came back again. Seventy percent seized was half as potent as five years ago and the weaker the meth, the least likely to become addicted. In 2004, before the law change, there were 64 meth labs in Multnomah County, Oregon. In 2010, after law change, there was only one. Deputy Bret King created awareness by using before and after mug shots of people arrested affiliated with meth. The results were astounding and the campaign became one of the most potent illustrations of methââ¬â¢s dangers and its ravaging effects. The pharmaceutical field improved their system with prescription mandate. My reaction to this program was a tear. I know being in the nursing field, that I am going to experience a lot of things. I just hate to see the horrible way they look after only a short time of abuse. No abuse of any kind is any good, of course, I am just saying that these people are still people and not really given a fair chance to say if they choose to do this drug because they have no voice once they take that first hit. I will never, ever, ever try this drug, that is a promise. I found the information on this matter very informative and interesting.

Copenhagen essays
Copenhagen essays Atomic warfare is, and always has been, at the mind of the worlds population. So many questions left unanswered, and some still undiscovered. But do we know what really happened at the meeting between Bohr and Heisenberg, two atomic physicists who met during world war two. This is the focus of Michael Frayns play, Copenhagen. By replaying the situation a number of times from different viewpoints, Frayn attempts to show what occurred at the meeting. However, although the audience leaves without knowing what actually happened, they leave with a performance to remember. It is memorable for the use of the stage space, the believable characters played by the actors and the way different times are suggested. By far, the most memorable event in the play would be when the nuclear bomb went off. Lights went everywhere, strobes flashing on the audience. The stage was of circular design, so there were lights following the paths of the electrons and protons in an atom. It was very interesting to see how science can be demonstrated so well in a dramatic form. The actors used each other and the space in cooperation to tell their version of the story. One of the actors would sit in a chair located at the centre of a circle, symbolizing the nucleus, whilst the other two actors orbited around whilst they explained what was happening with physics or about developing U235 from U238. Sitting at the back of the stage were audience members. Their stands appeared to complete the circular pattern of the audiences seating. The terraces were similar to that of a jury, looking down and judging the characters and about their topic of conversation or what theyre planning. To make a character believable it takes practice. Three of Australias most famous actors fulfilled this challenge exceedingly well by perfectly showing the relation between character and science. Heisenberg, playe ...

Strategies to Help You Become an Outstanding Student
Strategies to Help You Become an Outstanding Student More than anything, teachers want to see growth and improvement from all of their students. They want each to become a better student. They understand that their classroom is filled with extreme ranges of intelligence, from low to high. Their job is to differentiate instruction to provide each student with an education that meets their own individual needs. This is both difficult and challenging, but effective teachers are able to make it happen. Becoming an outstanding student does not happen overnight. It is also not the sole responsibility of the teacher. The teacher is only the facilitator of knowledge. The student must come prepared to take in that knowledge, make connections, and be able to apply it to real life situations. This is more natural for some students than it is for others, but everyone can improve and become a better student if they desire to do so. Here are fifteen effective strategies that will help you become an outstanding student. Ask Questions This could not get any simpler. If you do not understand something, ask the teacher for additional help. Teachers are there to help. You should never be afraid of asking a question. It is not embarrassing. It is how we learn. The chances are that there are several other students who have the same question you have. Be Positive Teachers love to work with students who are pleasant and positive. Having a positive attitude will have a positive impact on learning. We all have terrible days. We all have subjects that we just do not like. However, you still need to maintain a positive attitude. A poor attitude can quickly lead to failure. Complete Assignments/Homework Every assignment should be completed and turned in to the teacher. When assignments are not completed, there are two negative outcomes. First, you potentially miss out on learning a new concept, which leaves a gap in learning. Second, your grade will be lower than it should be. Homework may not be fun to do, but it is an essential part of the school and the learning process. Do More than Required The best students go above and beyond. They do more than the minimum. If the teacher assigns twenty problems, they do twenty-five. They seek out learning opportunities. They ask their teachers for additional work, read books/magazines, research ideas online, and are excited about learning. Establish a Routine A structured routine can help you maintain academic focus at home. This routine should include when homework is completed, what extras you are going to do each day, a location for doing it, and an awareness of others in the house so that distractions are minimized. A routine for getting up and going to school each morning can also be beneficial. Follow Directions Following directions and instructions is an essential aspect of being a good student. Not following directions can lead to mistakes that have a negative impact on your grade. Always listen thoroughly to the teacher when she is giving directions or offering instruction. Read written directions at least two times and ask for clarification if you do not understand something. Get a Tutor There is probably an area or multiple areas in which you struggle. Getting a tutor can provide you with a huge advantage. Tutoring is often done on a one-on-one basis which is always beneficial. If you do not know of a tutor, talk to your teacher. Often times, they will volunteer to tutor you or may be able to refer you to someone else who can. Listen in Class This is the single most crucial aspect of being a better student. Teachers actually do know what they are talking about. However, if you are not listening, you cannot learn. If you are easily distracted or struggle with listening, ask your teacher if you can bring a recorder to class. Maintain Focus There are potential distractions around you all the time. Good students stay focused. They do not allow other situations or people to keep them from learning. They put academics first. They have a life outside of school, but they value academics and make it a priority. Read! Read! Read! Good students are often booked worms. Reading is the foundation of learning. Excellent readers excel in both fluency and comprehension. They pick books that are both entertaining and challenging. They use programs such as Accelerated Reader to set goals and check for understanding. Set Goals Everyone should have a set of academic-related goals. This should include both short-term and long term goals. Goals assist in maintaining focus by giving you something to strive to achieve. Goals should be reevaluated and adjusted periodically. When you reach a goal, make a big deal about it. Celebrate your successes. Stay Away from Trouble Avoiding trouble can go far in being academically successful. Getting in trouble often means time spent in the principalââ¬â¢s office. Any time spent in the principalââ¬â¢s office is time lost in the classroom. Making smart choices, including whom you choose to be friends with, is essential to becoming a better student. Stay Organized Organization is a key factor in academic success. The lack of organization skills can lead to disaster. Keep your locker and backpack cleaned and well organized. Keeping an agenda or journal and recording each assignment is a fantastic way to stay on top of things. Study! Study! Study! Study early and study often! Studying is not something that many people enjoy, but it is a necessary skill to possess for academic success. Developing strong study habits is essential. Figure out a method that works well for you and stick with it in individual study time. Take Challenging Classes/Teachers It is okay to be challenged. Pick hard classes and/or teachers if you have a choice. You will be better off in the long run even if your grades are a little lower. It is better to receive a B and learn a lot than to receive an A and learn a little.

Childhood Obesity Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Childhood Obesity - Essay Example However, the physical cost of being obese are much greater even than this. It is well-known that obesity can dramatically lower life expectancy at every age level. Approaching epidemic proportions, identifying the causes and treatment of obesity is of utmost importance particularly when working with children who have an entire lifetime ahead of them. An obese person is someone who has more body fat than science considers healthy for their particular height, body type, gender and age. As a general rule, people who are 40 to 100 pounds over this determined ideal weight range are considered obese. People who are more than 100 pounds over this weight range are called morbidly obese. Heredity significantly influences obesity. People who are genetically predisposed to being obese have a harder time trying to lose weight or to maintain a desired body mass. Children born into overweight families are often overweight even before they have the opportunity to try maintaining a healthy weight. Other contributing factors to the problem of obesity in children can include metabolic and socioeconomic circumstances, diseases, endocrine ailments and medications Metabolism refers to how efficiently a personââ¬â¢s body burns up energy. Metabolic levels and hormonal balances differ widely from one person to another and both factor significantly i n controlling weight. (ââ¬Å"Overview of Obesityâ⬠, 2007). Overeating, eating fatty foods and spending long periods of time in inactivity also contribute significantly to obesity. Studies have also shown that there is a connection between substandard economic circumstances and the rates of obesity in children. The food available to lower income populations usually has a higher level of empty calories, meaning it is poor in nutritional value but high in fat and corn syrup. Children growing up in low income homes donââ¬â¢t always have the option to eat well and

What Are The Problems Of Using Both Diesel Trains And Electric Trains, Essay
What Are The Problems Of Using Both Diesel Trains And Electric Trains, And Can These Problems Be Solved By Switching To Just One Or The Other - Essay Example But as, the worldââ¬â¢s climate is changing, the technology regarding the trains is changing. Diesel fuel based trains are massively used in the world. On the electric trains have become the major sources of transportation (the Guardian, 2012). Some modals of electric trains are faster and consume a considerably low amount of energy as compared to the diesel as well as relative electric trains. In this paper, I will evaluate the problems of using both diesel trains and electric trains, and can these problems be solved by switching to just one or the other. Problems of Using diesel Trains As the diesel prices are raising, it became less feasible from economic point of view to utilize oil resources as the main source of energy. On the other hand, diesel fuel engines produce immense of green house emissions. The engine requires cooling, and thus the efficiency of a diesel fired engine is not more than 40% (the Guardian, 2012). The diesel power train engines require scheduled maintena nce. The maintenance cost remains to be high (Nearing, 2013). Problems with Electric Trains Consume a large amount of electricity energy. In case of electric failure, the train is unable to continue journey, as it requires constant supply. In case of thunder storm, the delicate electronics may no work properly. Sometimes, the hanging electric wires over the trains are considered to be less protective Comparison between Diesel and Electric Trains Electric trains are much efficient as compared to the diesel fired trains. On the other hand, the technological advancements in the electric trains made the electric power trains, the fastest trains. Electric trains convert electric energy to mechanical energy, the motors require less cooling as compared to the engines so less energy is wasted. At higher altitude diesel engines become less efficient due to the lack of oxygen but electric rains work properly in that situation. Electric trains are more environment friendly as compared to the d iesel trains. Electrical trains are equipped with backup systems in case if one motor fails, other motors support its weight. If electrical energy is from a renewable source, environmental impact of the transportation can be reduced. If electrical energy is generated from fossil fuel resources, electrical trains still generate 20-30% low green house emissions as compared to the diesel trains. Electrical trains are more economically feasible as compared to the diesel trains (Nearing, 2013). Solutions that can make diesel trains better In order to increase the efficient of the diesel trains, it is important to convert the heat energy from the exhaust to a useful form. One way of doing this, is to utilize the thermal energy recovery system. The heat recovery should be used to convert water into steam and then use steam to power the train. By doing this, the energy efficient can be increased to 80% or more. Instead of using the petroleum diesel, bio diesel can reduce the cost of the fue l and reduce the environmental impact of the diesel fired engines (Takeuchi, Goodman, & Sone, 2003). Solutions that can make electrical trains better The researches have researched much to make the electrical trains better and more secure but from general perspective, there is need to power the trains from more than one source, more than one sou

Birth Orders Effect on Personality Essay examples -- Birth Order Huma
Birth Order's Effect on Personality Birth-order could be one way to gain an understanding of friends, family members and co-workers. Research has shown that the birth-order indeed has an effect on personality. Birth-order of course does not explain everything about human behavior, personality is also affected by many different factors such as heritage, the environment of the upbringing, family size, education etc. There are four basic classifications of birth-order: the oldest, the only, the middle and the youngest born. Each has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. The birth-order factor is not always exact, but it does give many clues about why people are the way they are (Leman, 1985). First-born children tend to be highly motivated to achieve. In school, first-borns tend to work harder for grades than later-borns do. They often grow to be more competitive and have higher educational and career goals. Of the first twenty-three astronauts sent into outer space, twenty-one were first-borns or only children. Some characteristics of first-borns are: goal setting, high achievers, perfectionist, responsible, organized, rule keepers, determined, detail orientated. Only children are considered as a specialized type of first-borns. They are generally characterized much the same as first-borns who have siblings. Some famous first-borns include Mikhail Gorbachev (Russian leader), Jimmy Carter (president), Albert Einstein (scientist), Sally Ride (astronaut), and ...
